The Cooperating Hand in the Amazon
Since 1979 Transforming Lives!
HISTORY
ÇWith the recent opening of the Trans-Amazonian Highway and the arrival of many families who were looking for their realization in gold, it was noticed the large number of children and adolescents without their recognized rights who suffered from countless deprivations. With this reality stamped on the face of the local people, given the enormous social debt that governments were unable to repay, in 1978 the pastorOreste Greinerrequests, together with the City Hall, the donation of land, so that a semi-boarding school could be built there for the socio-educational care of children and adolescents in situations of social vulnerability. His petition was promptly accepted and responded to, proof of which is that in January 1979, the donation of a plot of land on 11th Street, Bela Vista neighborhood, was carried out with the Property Registry at the local Notary's Office. The next step was to invite a pastor with experience in the social area to continue the project that would start very soon.
As atividades da A Mão Cooperadora – OSEID’s fantasy name – in the region they began in 1979 with the arrival of the pastorEdgar Henkeand his family, who came with the purpose of building a building for a semi-boarding school called A Mão Cooperadora. In addition to this family, others became involved with the range of services or activities developed - year after year - from this entity in favor of improving the social conditions of the citizens.

Still in 1982, to meet the great shortage of school places, once again in solidarity with The Cooperating Hand with the latent need, it is willing to solve the demand for space for the implementation of new classes and proposes the free availability of its dependencies, initially as annexes of another unit of the municipal network and later, as an independent Unit, ESCOLA A MÃO COOPERADORA, located on 11th street in the Bela Vista neighborhood under the modality under an agreement with the public school system. Therefore, in both buildings, school activities worked partially in one shift and in the other period socio-educational activities for the Institution's target audience.
No período de 1982 a 1983, seven (07) Casas Lares were built to receive orphaned children or those left by their parents, who sought in the region's mining for the long-awaited wealth in mineral extraction, which for the most part did not happen, thus aggravating the situation of families in social vulnerability and causing greater risk to children and adolescents who lived at the mercy of existing social problems. The Casas Lares consisted of eight (08) to ten (10) children and adolescents cared for by a lady or a couple who provided a family and healthy environment for those who needed it and were maintained by employees from the municipality itself as well as from Germany.
Em 1984, houve uma reorganização in the activities for the better progress of the actions proposed by the Social Work and, therefore, it was reorganized as follows: All school activities began to occupy the building on 11th Rua do Bairro Bela Vista and socio-educational activities were concentrated in the building of Unit II, located on 23rd Rua do Bairro Bom Remédio. Thus, it was understood that the concentration of activities, resources and equipment allowed the achievement of greater and better results in the service.
Com a visão de proporcionar oportunidades profissionalizantes aos adolescentes, tanto aos atendidos na Obra Social as well as others from the community, in 1985 Mão Cooperadora expands its actions by building a carpentry shop where many have passed and are professionals able to carry out their activities professionally.
Como doação da família, “ Bertlich” from Germany, the Social Work receives, also in 1984, financial resources for the acquisition of a rural property called 'Fazenda Maloquinha', located on the Trans-Amazonian Highway, Km 15 (direction Itb-Jacareacanga), with the intention of providing agricultural training to young people in the rural area and in view of the possibility of generating income to invest in the different activities carried out by Obra Social.
In 1991, a semi-boarding school was opened in Jardim Aeroporto neighborhood, which also expanded its activities to offer formal education creation of the Elementary School from 1st to 4th grades, in partnership with the public school system.
Com o mesmo entusiasmo e no dever de treinar a clientela juvenil egressa da Institution and make it capable of earning its own support, in 1993, a Snack Bar was installed where, in addition to providing excellent customer service, it prioritized teaching in the production of sweets and snacks.
In 1995, always eager to meet the needs of work and to contribute with another opportunity to Hand Cooperator set up a bakery that worked for a long time.
Ainda por volta do ano de 1995, mais um empreendimento surgiu com o in order to promote one more possibility of sustainability and one more resource for professional learning, this time, a knitting shop, to meet the needs of many mothers. The craft of cutting and sewing was greatly enjoyed by many young women and ladies.
In 1998, the Social Work extended its actions to the municipality of Rurópolis, building a school for the operation of Infantile Education in the Água Azul Community, Rodovia Transamazônica, Km 85. The contribution for the construction was received with many thanks to the Müller family, Germany.
_cc781905-5cde-3194- bb3b-136bad5cf58d_Focusing on the great need for schools along the Trans-Amazonian Highway, the desire to contribute was once again felt, this time in the community of Divinópolis, Km 70. In 2000, a kindergarten school was inaugurated at this location. Contribution from a Lutheran Church in the city of Minden, Germany.
O ano 2000 marca ainda o término da nova construção da Escola A Mão Cooperadora, 11th Rua, Bela Vista, previously all in wood, now in masonry and with a greater number of rooms. This renovation took place thanks to a donation from the institution SAHAKARINI, Canada, which, in addition to making its voluntary contribution to the construction of the building, made resources available for the purchase of equipment and payment of instructors hired to carry out professional training courses in: mechanics, hydraulics, electricians and information technology, which A Mão Cooperadora offered to the community in agreement with SENAI.
Em 2001 inaugurou-se a kindergarten school, located in Campo Verde, km 30 of the Transamazônica Highway in the municipality of Itaituba, another community receives the attention of the Social Work.
ÇAs with the many difficulties in different areas of life, there is also a deficiency in the health services available in the local public network, precisely for this reason, once again 'A Mão Cooperadora', in 2001 opened another work front, the Clínica Bethel, in order to raise funds for existing social works. In this sector, there is a differentiated service policy for registered low-income customers so that these people with low purchasing power have the opportunity to receive quality service at more affordable prices.
In 2004, the Elementary School was inaugurated in the city of Trairão, another unit dedicated to the care of school-age children who attend Elementary School from the 1st to the 5th year.
2005 was a painful year for The Cooperating Hand family, as they suffered the loss of their tireless defender and integrity, Prof. Edgar Henke, who worked tirelessly for the welfare of the Social and Educational Works of the Church of God in Brazil. His successor as Director General was Rev. Oreste Greiner.
Em 2005 aconteceu em Itaituba, em virtude dos 25 anos da Obra Social , the World Forum of A Mão Cooperadora, an event that brought a little encouragement and motivated the continuity of the work carried out, understanding the Work to be going through difficult times and transition.
Em 2006 iniciam-se novas atividades na Fazenda Maloquinha que além de produzir beef cattle and dairy cattle, organizes its facilities to be able to receive groups for training, seminars, fraternization, retreats and camps. These activities with specific groups and contracted events help in the maintenance of that place and other sectors, as far as possible.
Em 2008 com a grande demanda de vagas para a Educação infantil a 'A Mão Cooperadora', once again, came to meet this need of the municipality by providing its facilities, now on 23rd Rua, Bairro Bom Remédio, removing the activities of the semi-boarding school and transferring them to the old Casas Lares, as they are no longer necessary. for the home activities. At this time, the Semi-boarding school underwent changes in its structure and operation and was renamed the Bem-Te-Vi Project.
Ainda em 2008 foi feito a construção de uma sala para laboratório de eletricidade , to offer courses in the area of building and network electricity, located at 22nd Rua do Bairro Bom Remédio, attached to the Marcenaria building.
Em 2009 foi ampliado o laboratório on the premises of Escola A Mão Cooperadora, located on 11th Rua, Bela Vista, containing 20 computers.
Em 2010, devido a a change in its internal organizational structure in the management model of the Social and Educational Works of the Church of God in Brazil in Itaituba (once the only existing one) the work is now also being developed by a new partner entity of the SOCIAL AND EDUCATIONAL OBRAS branch OF THE CHURCH OF GOD IN BRAZIL, due to the agility in the local management of all issues related to their daily work. This new institution is called A HAND COOPERADOR NA AMAZÔNIA.
A partir da criação de a local institution legally changed its links with the matrix, without, however, losing the principles of the other entities that have the same name and that were previously legally sheltered in a single institution (with national scope), responsible for interconnecting the different units spread out across Brazilian territory.
Atualmente A Mão Cooperadora na Amazônia is managed by a local board – duly advised by a Fiscal Council – which monitors all the actions developed in its various sectors.
Em 2011, por solicitação do then municipal manager, Valmir Climaco, two more of the Casas Lares were provided for Early Childhood Education (4 classrooms, kitchen, pantry, storage, open area, bathrooms and secretary) with the guarantee that the Bem-Te-Vi Socioeducational Project would be compensated by the Municipality.
2012 foi inaugurado o Centro de Informática Edgar Henke, nas dependências da Escola A Cooperating Hand at Jardim Aeroporto.
Em quatro décadas de existência and intense activities in favor of the community, A Mão Cooperadora faced many challenges and overcame great difficulties, seeking to continue the work it has always carried out in the municipality of Itaituba, a serious work aimed at serving those who really need it.
PWe remain firm in our main objective, which is always to cooperate for the integral well-being of the less favored and to help society, establishing lasting partnerships that were not built between subjects, but between solid institutions.
